conform more closely with the Collection Policy. A group was set up last year, chaired by Reg Haley, to consider its problem and are considering the disposal of several vehicles, including an AEC/Merryweather TL, a FoT based based upon the Austin K6 chassis, an AEC/Merryweather ET, a Dennis/Merryweather TL and a general purpose Bedford TK flatbed lorry. Although no firm decision has been taken, it was felt that these vehicles were not appropriate or were duplicating the collection. In the case of loans they will be initially offered to the original owner, or to other museums and interested parties. Members of the Friends who have an interest, or know of bodies that may also have an interest, are invited to contact the Collection Curator.
Regular working parties are now held at Weedon at least twice a month; while much of the work remains mundane, we shall soon be able to commence restoration and catalogue work, for which many skills will be required. Should you live within reasonable travelling distance of the Weedon site, please volunteer your time and interest.
The Collection Curator can be contacted at 9 Morland Way, Manton Heights, Bedford, MK41 7NP. Telephone: 01234 355453.

Judging by the smiles, the AFS days in Leicester must have been happy ones. Seen in front of the Self-Propelled Pump (as it was more correctly known) are, left to right, Station Officer Winston Osborne, Leading Fireman Trevor Peake , Sub Officer Ivan Crockett,  Fireman Brian Foster , Fireman Paddy Fox, Sub Officer Alan Youngman  and Senior Divisional Officer Nick Kirby. Taking the photograph was Fireman David Clarke.
